A High-Performance Home Designed for Comfort, Health & Efficiency
Set in the leafy streets of Lindfield, this certified Passive House on Grosvenor Road showcases the future of healthy, energy-efficient living. Combining contemporary architecture with world-class building performance, the home delivers exceptional comfort all year round — powered behind the scenes by a finely tuned mechanical ventilation and dehumidification system.
The design team set an ambitious goal from the outset: create a home that performs as beautifully as it looks. Our role was to supply, install, balance, and commission the indoor air quality systems that allow this level of comfort, efficiency, and airtightness to be achieved.
A Contemporary Passive House Built With Precision
The home’s striking façade combines brickwork, steel accents, and modern glazing to create an elegant and timeless presence. Behind the architectural finishes lies a meticulously crafted thermal envelope — airtight, highly insulated, and engineered for low-energy living.
To support this level of performance, we designed and installed a complete whole-home mechanical ventilation and dehumidification solution tailored specifically for the Passive House standard.
Fresh Air, Always: Dantherm HCV460P2 HRV System
At the heart of the home is the Dantherm HCV460P2 Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) unit, positioned neatly within the services area. This high-performance unit ensures a continuous supply of filtered, tempered fresh air — maintaining healthy indoor conditions with minimal energy demand.
Balanced Airflow Design
To achieve Passive House-level comfort and ventilation consistency, the system delivers:

Moisture Control for Sydney’s Climate: Microwell DRY400
Sydney’s humidity presents unique challenges for airtight homes — which is why this project includes a Microwell DRY400 ducted dehumidifier, installed on the left side of the mechanical room.
This system works in tandem with the HRV to maintain healthy indoor relative humidity year-round, preventing condensation, mould risk, and discomfort.
Integrated Distribution
The DRY400 supplies dry, conditioned air to:
-
Living
-
Dining
-
Rumpus
-
All bedrooms
Extract air is drawn from the hallway to quietly and efficiently maintain balanced humidity.
Airtight Rangehood Solution for Passive House Requirements
To preserve airtightness — often compromised by conventional kitchen exhausts — we installed a fully sealed system for the Qasair Eastmore undermount rangehood, including:
-
300mm airtight dampers
-
240V actuators
-
External wall vent
-
Make-up air system with insulated ducting
-
Linear bar grille for controlled pressure balance
This ensures powerful kitchen extraction without depressurising the home.
Commissioning & Certification Support
Our scope included:
Complete supply & installation Balancing of all supply/extract flows
Commissioning of HRV and dehumidifier
Airtightness-appropriate duct sealing
Support for Passive House certification requirements
