Peter the Great Aquatory dehumidification solution to preserve the minuscule buildings and mechanisms

Peter the Great Aquatory is a historic miniature of 18th century St. Petersburg

Peter the Great Aquatory is a unique scale model devoted to the history of St. Petersburg’s creation and to the onset of the Russian fleet. The central part of the exhibit is a bowl filled with water that represents waterways of St. Petersburg. Dantherm CDP dehumidifiers are to preserve the minuscule buildings and mechanisms from humidity damage

The History

Peter the Great Aquatory is a big model of 18-century St. Petersburg, reconstructing the principal sights related to the marine history of the city. The scale of the model is 1:87. Movable items (human figurines, carriages, ships) together with lighting, sound and visual effects are of particular interest for visitors. They provide for authentic alternation of day and night, as well as for weather changes

Factoring in Water

The area of the model is 500 m2. It is worth noting that the central part of the exhibit is a bowl filled with water that represents waterways of St. Petersburg. Minuscule copies of 18-century ships sail around it.

Key Learning

However, the water surface is not the only source of humidity in the air. The exhibit is a popular place, visited by hundreds of tourists on a daily basis. This had to be taken into consideration when calculating humidity load. Two wall-mounted CDP 65 dehumidifiers from Dantherm were used together with fresh air ventilation
