Industrial Dehumidification: Desiccant Dehumidifiers for Cold Storage and Manufacturing Applications

At Zenith Ventilation, we are the preferred supplier for industrial dehumidification solutions, offering comprehensive installation and support services. We specialise in providing desiccant dehumidifiers for industries such as cold storage, refrigerated distribution centres, and manufacturing plants. With our expertise, we ensure that each installation meets the highest standards of efficiency and reliability.

The Role of Desiccant Dehumidifiers

Desiccant dehumidifiers work by removing moisture from the air through a desiccant material. These systems are ideal for environments with low temperatures or where strict humidity control is required, such as cold storage facilities and manufacturing plants. By eliminating excess moisture, they prevent issues like condensation, mould growth, and equipment corrosion.

At Zenith Ventilation, we provide installation services to ensure the units are integrated seamlessly into your existing infrastructure. Our goal is to deliver efficient, long-lasting solutions that reduce downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

Applications of Industrial Desiccant Dehumidifiers

  1. Cold Storage and Refrigerated Distribution Centres Proper humidity control in cold storage is essential to preserve the quality of perishable goods such as food and pharmaceuticals. Excess moisture can lead to product spoilage, compromised packaging, and safety concerns. Zenith Ventilation offers desiccant dehumidifier installation for cold storage facilities, ensuring optimal conditions and extending product shelf life.
  2. Manufacturing Plants Moisture in manufacturing environments can disrupt production processes, cause equipment malfunction, and affect the quality of products. This is particularly true for industries such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, and food processing. Our desiccant dehumidifiers maintain a consistent, dry environment, preventing moisture-related issues and reducing the risk of costly downtime.
  3. Additional Industrial Applications Desiccant dehumidifiers are also ideal for other applications, such as water treatment plants, clean rooms, and general warehousing. Whatever your industry, Zenith Ventilation provides installation services to meet the unique humidity control needs of your business.

Air Quality Management

Zenith Ventilation are experts in indoor air quality

INDOOR AIR – It is generally recognised that Australians spend 90% or more of their time indoors. Despite this, relatively
little research has been done on the quality of air in our homes, schools, recreational buildings, restaurants,

public buildings, offices, or inside cars.

Poor indoor air quality can result in significant adverse impacts on our health and environment. Moreover,
these impacts carry a significant cost burden to the economy. The CSIRO estimates that the cost of poor
indoor air quality in Australia may be as high as $12 billion per year (Brown, 1998). In recent years,
comparative risk studies performed by the US EPA and its Science Advisory Board have consistently ranked
indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health (US EPA, 1993).

Scheduled Servicing and Filter Changes

Leave it to us, we will set up an automated recurring job scheduling for filter changes and preventative maintenance services, this way you don’t have to worry about calling and changing the filters, we will manage all of this for you.
During this time, we can also review the air quality log and ensure we have the filtration systems in the correct places and that there are enough of them.

Basement Dehumidifier

Basement Dehumidifier

Most of the time the origin of musty smells in a home is the basement or crawl space (subfloor)
In most cases subfloor ventilation is what is used to control the humidity in a basement or subfloor, in some cases though a ventilation system is not enough, this could be in cases such as really damp spaces due to lateral moisture ingress, groundwater seepage or in a climate where the natural outdoor environment has extended periods of high humidity.
In these cases Zenith Ventilation can install a dehumidifier for the basement, this would ensure that the humidity levels remain at the desired levels to prevent all of the things that high humidity causes such as mould, musty smells, timber or, termites etc
We strategically select a dehumidifier from our quality dehumidifier suppliers for each basement

whole Home Ducted Dehumidifiers

whole Home Ducted Dehumidifiers

Ducted whole home dehumidifier

The NSW coastal climate can be  humid, especially in the summer months. These times in particular is when dehumidification is needed, as ventilation will introduce the unwanted moisture that is outside into our home.
Zenith Ventilation can design and install a ducted dehumidification system for your home and for your basement, we can also introduce fresh air, so that this system also ventilates the house, but don’t worry, the fresh air will be dehumidified before it enters the house.
We can fit duct dampers to control when to introduce fresh air. and then you will have a completely controlled automated whole home dehumidifier that is controlled by timers and humidity sensors.
say goodbye to the musty smells and mould growth on your walls and belongings

The Purpose of a home is to provide a healthy and comfortable habitat for our family. Holiday homes, Air BNB’s, stayz homes  and weekenders would also really benefit from this as they are closed up periodically when unoccupied.

Office and School Ventilation

Office and School Ventilation - A breath of healthy living in every room

Zenith Ventilation  “Choosing to breathe healthy air, because it is constantly replenished and purified, is essential.”

We are committed to improving air quality in all environments where we live, learn and work. Our mission is to ensure healthy clean air in every room – in homes, offices, classrooms and public places.

We do this by offering those who design and install systems a range of innovative Controlled Mechanical Ventilation solutions: decentralised systems with dual continuous flow, carefully designed and easy to install, energy efficient and with proven effectiveness in reducing pollutants.

What do we breathe?

DAMPNESS, MOULD, HIGH HUMIDITY, CONDENSATION & POOR INDOOR AIR QUALITY.

Every day, we spend about 90% of our time indoors, mainly at home and in the workplace. Confined environments have a limited amount of air, which we consume with every breath. People take on average 22,000 breaths a day, processing about 12,000 litres of air through their lungs.

It is important for our health to breathe air that is clean, rich in oxygen and free of the pollutants

Indoor air is up to 20 times more polluted

As confirmed by numerous studies, indoor air can be 5 to 20 times more polluted than outdoor air. Without proper ventilation,
indoor air tends to deteriorate, becoming saturated with harmful substances that can be very dangerous to health. Harmful elements include ultra-fine dust, fumes, combustion gases, formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds released by chemical detergents, glues and furniture materials. Then there are pollutants of biological origin – microorganisms such as allergens, moulds, bacteria and viruses carried by aerosols – and those of physical origin such as the dreaded radon gas.

How it works

Our ventilation units used for office and school spaces are decentralised HRVs with dual continuous flow and counter-current crossed airflows.

Stale air, saturated with humidity and CO2, is extracted from indoor areas and forced to flow into the heat exchanger where – without contact between the two flows – its heat is transferred to the incoming
airflow simultaneously pumped in from outside.

The fresh air, which is richer in oxygen, is pre-heated and purified by a high- performance filter that traps smog, particulates and pollen. This technology provides constant and balanced air exchange
in closed environments, ensuring superior performance in terms of energy efficiency, air purification and indoor comfort.

HRV-ERV-AHU -INSTALLERS

HRV-ERV-AHU

Professional prefered Installers - HRV -ERV -AHU - INDOOR POOL VENTILATION

Zenith Ventilation  “After more than a decade spent dedicated to the prevention of mould, condensation, musty smells, and poor indoor air quality a few things stand out today.

Skyrocketing electricity prices have resulted in changed consumer behaviours. I have found that people are not heating their houses in winter, rather just individual rooms with gas or electric devices and they rely on the blankets in the bedrooms. Whilst this is good for reducing electricity consumption, it is detrimental to the indoor air quality of the home. As air temperature decreases, relative humidity increases, this inverse relationship generates damp air. This is due to the fact that cold air cannot hold as much moisture as warm air. There are many available options today to maintain the perfect air temperature inside to prevent not only mould and structural damage, but health problems, these climate control devices such as heaters, air conditioning, air purifiers, and dehumidifiers.  Heat or Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) is also a great way of introducing fresh air without introducing the outdoor conditions, this is a way of ventilating without having to open your windows and it is very efficient as ERV’s have up to 95% temperature efficiency which will help to reduce electricity costs”.

What is the role of ventilation

Role of Ventilation

The Purpose of a home is to provide a healthy and comfortable habitat for our family, In order to do this among other things, we must maintain comfortable air temperatures whilst ensuring the air is free from excess humidity, smells and other harmful contaminants that could have negative effects on our health. This is the role of Ventilation!

HOW ERV-HRV-MVHR SYSTEMS WORK

The ventilation system extracts air from the wet rooms (kitchen, bathrooms, toilets and utility room) on a continual basis. A counter-flow heat exchanger with a thermal efficiency of up to 96 % recovers the heat from the extract air that would otherwise have been lost and transfers it to the supply air. Fresh heated supply air then flows into the living rooms. Supply air and extract air are totally separated from each other in order to keep the supply air clean. With Zenith Ventilation’s range of highly efficient and energy-saving mechanical residential ventilation solutions with heat recovery, suitable for new-build as well as for renovating, you will get the best possible indoor climate and even reduce your heating bill, as up to 96 % of the heat is recovered.

HRV-ERV-AHU

THE BENEFITS OF INSTALLING A ERV OR HRV SYSTEM

 Contributes to the energy efficiency of the home
• Reduces the risk of asthma and allergy
• Reduces surface moisture condensation
• Improves indoor air quality
• Eliminates mould and mildew
• Removes bad smell
• No need to open windows

WHO CAN HAVE AN ERV OR HRV INSTALLED

An ERV/ HRV is suitable for any home, office or building across the globe. From small units, granny flats, residential homes, office blocks to large factories, museums, wine cellars, aquatic centres, shopping centres, hotels and the list goes on.

WHY DO YOU NEED ONE?

An ERV / HRV will give you a warm well-ventilated home, office or commercial building. In winter, you can save on your electricity bills; in summer, you will reduce the need for air conditioning.

Keeping excess moisture out of your home benefits your building from structural damage, your furnishings from mould, and your health (properly ventilated homes that are neither too hot nor too damp are less likely to harbour dust mites, a very common trigger of asthma.) ERV / HRV’s help to keep the “climate” inside your home at a more constant level.

Indoor Pool Climate Control

Indoor Pool Climate Control

Indoor Pool Climate Control

Indoor pool climate control

Indoor Pool climate control for Residential & Commercial

Zenith Ventilation supply and install all indoor pool ventilation solutions for both residential and commercial aquatic centres. In order to calculate the humidity load on an indoor swimming pool project, you first need to determine the operation conditions.

In doing this, there are a number of factors to take into consideration. Contact Zenith Ventilation to assess the requirements needed.

Setting the room temperature

Dehumidification

In consideration of both comfort and budget, the air temperature around a swimming pool should be higher than the water temperature. This minimises evaporation and the dehumidification requirement. However, an increased room temperature will of course impact the heating bill.

In general, it is recommended that the room temperature is set to 2°C higher than the water temperature

Setting the water temperature

When setting the water temperature, the following benchmarks will often be a good starting point.

Commercial dehumidification
  • Private pools and hotels: 26-30 °C
  • Public swimming pools: 26-28 °C
  • Competition swimming: 24-27 °C
  • Therapy baths: 30-36 °C
  • Spa: 36-40 °C

Getting the relative humidity right

The relative humidity is an expression of the air’s actual water vapour pressure compared to the water vapour pressure when the air is saturated. It is stated as a percentage, and the set point when managing the operating conditions for a dehumidifier should be an RH value of 50-60%.

Indoor pool ventilation

You can also choose to operate with a differentiated set point, so that it is low during winter (50 %RH) to avoid condensation problems on cold surfaces, and high during summer (60 %RH) to reduce the operating costs. When the temperature is high during the summer, condensation problems do not occur.

Going above 60 %RH will impact the comfort level negatively and increase the risk of condensation problems and fungal attacks. An RH value any lower than 50 %RH is not appropriate either, since this will increase evaporation leading to greater dehumidification requirements and increased operating costs.

Water in the outdoor air

The water content in the outdoor air varies a lot over the year, more or less all over the world. From more than 12 g water/kg air during the summer down to 2 g water/kg air during the winter.

DAMPNESS, MOULD, HIGH HUMIDITY, CONDENSATION & POOR INDOOR AIR QUALITY.

We use the guideline VDI 2089 by The Association of German Engineers (VDI) when setting operating conditions for internal condition, outside condition and amount of outdoor air.

VDI has chosen 9 g water/kg air as the value that characterises outdoor air in Northern Europe and we use this figure in our calculation program DanCalcTool.

However, other values can be used for outdoor air in DanCalcTool, if the values deviate significantly from the Northern European standard.

In addition, VDI 2089 recommends that the absolute water content of the indoor air does not exceed 14.3 g water/kg air (54 %RH with an air temperature of 30°C), if the water content of the outdoor air is less than 9 g water/kg air, which will be the situation during winter.
